David M. Lajara

Hey there! I'm David M. Lajara, a designer currently working at The Walt Disney Company, where I create consumer-facing digital experiences across Disney and many of its iconic brands, including ESPN, ABC, Marvel, 20th Century Studios, The Oscars, Avatar, and more.

Growing up in New York City, I always dreamed of becoming a Disney artist, so having the opportunity to contribute to stories and experiences enjoyed by millions has been incredibly rewarding. I'm a multidisciplinary designer who enjoys working across visual design, UI/UX, branding, and design systems, and I'm especially energized by exploring different mediums, visual styles, and conceptual approaches to solve creative problems.

It was a passion for art and illustration from an early age that led me to enroll at the High School of Art & Design in New York City. While studying there, I built the creative foundation that would shape my future in visual design. After graduating with a major in Cartooning & Illustration, I attended the School of Visual Arts before later earning my B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Queens College.

My early career allowed me to explore a variety of creative industries, from editorial publishing and music to agency work, before joining Marvel Entertainment. Growing up drawing Thor, Spider-Man, and playing Marvel games, getting the opportunity to work for a brand that had such a profound influence on me creatively was truly surreal. During my time at Marvel, I grew from an intern into a full-time designer, working on digital experiences, interactive products, and marketing campaigns before continuing my journey at The Walt Disney Company.

Today, I work as a Designer at Disney, creating consumer-facing digital experiences across Disney and many of its iconic brands, including ESPN, ABC, Marvel, 20th Century Studios, The Oscars, Avatar, and more. My work spans visual design, UI/UX, branding, design systems, and digital storytelling, allowing me to collaborate with incredibly talented teams while creating experiences enjoyed by millions of people around the world.

My design philosophy is rooted in thoughtful concepts and visual storytelling. I love exploring different mediums, visual styles, and conceptual approaches, adapting each project to its audience while balancing creativity with clarity. Whether I'm designing a digital product, building a visual identity, or crafting a marketing campaign, I strive to create work that feels purposeful, memorable, and emotionally engaging. I'm especially inspired by music album artwork and aesthetics with a subtle grit and edge.

Outside of design, you'll usually find me immersed in music. Whether I'm performing on electric violin, producing electronic rock songs from scratch, or composing string arrangements on classical violin, creating music has always been another important creative outlet for me. I've had the privilege of studying under Ellie Kang and David Lisker, performing at Carnegie Hall alongside composer Tim Janis, and working with MAC as a featured electric violinist.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my work. If you'd like to chat about design, music, or just say hello, I'd love to hear from you!
